Rezension: Tasos Zembylas & Claudia Dürr (2009). Wissen, Können und literarisches Schreiben. Eine Epistemologie der künstlerischen Praxis

Abstract

Tasos ZEMBYLAS und Claudia DÜRR interessieren sich für das Entstehen von Prosatexten. Anhand dreier Fallstudien zeichnen sie deren Entstehen eng nach und kartografieren so zentrale Prozesse künstlerischer Praxis. Im Zentrum ihrer Analyse steht das praktische Wissen der Schriftsteller/innen, dessen Relevanz, Entäußerung, Natur und individuelle und kulturelle Beschaffenheit sie rekonstruieren. Offenkundig ist es mit der jeweils ausgeübten Praxis untrennbar verbunden und dieser damit implizit. Dies macht eine empirische Annäherung zugleich anspruchsvoll und reizvoll. Im Zentrum der Rezension steht zunächst die Analyse des theoretischen Rahmens der Studie, der sogenannte Tacit Knowing View. In weiterer Folge wird dieser Rahmen auf sich selbst bezogen, indem gefragt wird, inwieweit praktisches Wissen empirisch erforschbar ist; welcher Anspruch also an die Studie von ZEMBYLAS und DÜRR angelegt werden kann. Es stellt sich heraus, dass "Wissen, Können und literarisches Schreiben" ein wichtiger erster Schritt auf dem Weg zur intendierten Epistemologie künstlerischer Praxis ist. Aus dem Kontext des Tacit Knowing View heraus wird diskutiert, wie weitere Schritte aussehen können.

Tasos ZEMBYLAS and Claudia DÜRR trace the emergence of prose texts. By analyzing three case studies of young writers, they map a central domain of artistic practice. Their particular focus is on practical knowledge, which they assume to be highly important. However, as it is intimately intermingled with relevant performance, its empirical "capture" is both challenging and attracting. Practical knowledge is often not only implicit, but does not share many of the characteristics of propositional knowledge. The authors reconstruct its relevance, externalization and nature, as well as its individual and cultural shape. This paper focuses on the analysis of the study's theoretical background, the so-called Tacit Knowing View. After an introduction, this framework is applied onto itself. Hence, it can be asked if practical knowledge—as conceptualized within this view—can be empirically captured. It is only then that the study of ZEMBYLAS and DÜRR can be properly valued. The conclusion is drawn that their book represents an important first step on a longer road towards the intended epistemology of artistic practice. Based upon the Tacit Knowing View framework, further steps along this road are suggested.

Tasos ZEMBYLAS y Claudia DÜRR trazan la emergencia de los textos en prosa. Al analizar tres estudios de caso de escritores jóvenes, ellos hacen un mapa del dominio central de la práctica artística. Se interesan particularmente en el conocimiento práctico, que asumen es muy importante. Sin embargo, dado que está íntimamente entremezclado con ejecución relevante, su "captura" empírica es, al mismo tiempo, atractiva y desafiante. El conocimiento práctico es a menudo no solo implícito, sino que no comparte muchas de las características del conocimiento proposicional. Los autores reconstruyen su relevancia, exteriorización y naturaleza, así como su forma cultural e individual. El artículo se centra en el análisis del sustento teórico del estudio, la así llamada Perspectiva del conocimiento tácito. Después de la introducción, se aplica este marco de trabajo. De allí, se pregunta si el conocimiento práctico, tal cual se conceptualiza desde esta perspectiva, puede ser empíricamente capturado. Es solo entonces que el estudio de ZEMBYLAS y DÜRR puede ser propiamente evaluado. Se concluye que su libro representa un importante primer paso de un largo camino hacia la deseada epistemología de la práctica artística. Con base en el marco de trabajo de la perspectiva del conocimiento tácito, se sugieren otros pasos en esa dirección.
