Abstract

Die neurowissenschaftliche Hypothese vom Ende der Handlungsfreiheit wird erörtert. Was geschieht, wenn das menschliche Handeln lediglich Teil eines "Neurodeterminismus" ist? Was können dann Handeln und Entscheiden noch bedeuten? Soziales Geschehen lässt sich dann nur noch naturanalog verstehen. Das bedeutet aber, dass es den Menschen als solches unverständlich bleibt. Das Reden über "determiniertes Handeln" gerät in Widersprüche. Es wird die Ansicht vertreten, dass diese dann aufgelöst werden können, wenn man eine "weltanschauliche Lücke" unterstellt und die Welt von Fall zu Fall als determiniert oder frei handelnd betrachtet.

The following article examines the "neuroscientific hypothesis", which asserts the impossibility of freedom of action. What if our actions were not free, but merely dictated by a "neuro-determinism"? What would then be the meaning of words like acting or deciding? Social events would have to be considered as part of deterministic successions, just like physical events. As social actions they would be inconceivable. This would lead to considerable inconsistencies when addressing the issues of social interaction. There is, however, a philosophical way out of these difficulties: the assumption of a gap between the world and our interpretation of it, which offers the choice to look upon the world, according to circumstances, as either determined or as free action.
