'This article deals with a typical Austrian aspect of the 'tourism-migration nexus'. In Austria the housing of asylum seekers usually is organized in accommodations that are small and are often an integral part of the tourist infrastructure (guesthouses, pensions, hostels, and hotels). As a result of this practice, tourist spaces are linked with spaces of forced migration in various ways. Because of these interconnections, Tyrolean tourist organizations fear that the welcome holiday tourism could be deterred by the unwelcome 'tourism' of asylum seekers?: collective accommodations and the presence of refugees in the public space are being perceived as an incursion of problem-loaded every-day life into the idyll of tourism. Nevertheless, the organizations carefully distinguish between different types of accommodation and prefer - like NGOs, asylum seekers and many communities - the smallest possible housing arrangements.'
