(Autorenreferat)... view less

"In contrast to the hydrogen and fuel cell activities known to take place in the automobile industry, political initiatives concerning this subject have received little attention from the public. Nevertheless, political involvement, especially in Japan, the US and recently at the level of the European Union, has become increasingly dynamic with the formulation of roadmaps and goals for the commercialisation of fuel cell technology, the initiation of demonstration projects, and a marked increase in public funding. The following study gives a comprehensive overview of the programs supporting hydrogen and fuel cell technologies in Germany, the European Union, the US and Japan. In addition to the political objectives, the scope, instruments and supporting parties of the political initiatives will be explained. This account should provide the reader with a sound comparative overview of the subject as well as a basis for needed further empirical studies." (author's abstract)... view less
