Abstract Discute-se aqui, a capacitação de recursos humanos em Gerontologia tomando-se por base o preconizado pela Política Nacional do Idoso. Além da capacitação de cuidadores leigos, conforme proposto pela Portaria Interministerial N.º 5.153 de abril de 1999.

In this paper, we discuss the qualification of human resources in gerontology based on what is called for by the national policy for the elderly, besides discussing the qualification of lay caregivers according to what is proposed by the Interministerial Administrative Rule No. 5.153 of April, 1999.
