This article intends to draw the attention to two data bases which are available to quantitative historical social research. Based on precious research at the Freie Universität Berlin the possibilities for the analysis of Amtsblatt- and Handbuchdaten (official gazettes and directories) are shown. The results of the analyses of the data in the "Amtsblatt" of the SPD- and KPD/SED-candidates and representatives for the elections in Berlin in 1929, 1933, and 1946 are presented in an illustrative way.
