Der vorliegende Beitrag diskutiert die Verdienste des historisch-territorialen Ansatzes von Stein Rokkan, der eine Aggregatdatenanlyse mit einem vergleichenden Ansatz kombiniert. Die historische Dimension jeder gegenwärtigen Struktur steht hier im Zentrum der Untersuchung. Anhand der Ergebnisse der historischen Wahlforschung des deutschen Kaiserreiches werden die Stärken und Nachteile dieses 'Geoeconomic-Geopolitical Model' erörtert. Ein entscheidender Vorteil dieses makrohistorischen Modells ist darin zu sehen, daß es die Variationen im Prozeß der europäischen Entwicklung zu erklären vermag. (pmb)... view less

'The Stein-Rokkan-Tradition forthers a territorial approach by which aggregate data analysis and historical comparisons are combined. Essentially, it points to the historical dimensions of contemporaries opportunity structures. Several pros and cons of this kind of reasoning are discussed and an empirical example concerning the electoral history of Imperial Germany is given. Rokkans' last 'geoeconomic-geopolitical model' is shown to be of great value for the explanation of variations within processes of European development.' (author's abstract)... view less
