How to deposit documents

You would like to make your publications openly accessible? The advantages in a nutshell:

Scholarly literature which is freely accessible on the Internet has a high chance of being found and cited. This considerably enhances the visibility of authors, their institutions and publishers. Open-access publications are particularly suitable in this regard.

What SSOAR has to offer

By making your published documents available via SSOAR, you can realise the afore-mentioned benefits quickly and efficiently. As an author, you can opt to use our intuitive deposit form to upload your documents and to create a full bibliographic metadata record for each item.

Once archived in SSOAR, your documents can be searched freely on the Internet. A simple Google search request suffices. The key advantage of this is that users do not need to be aware of SSOAR's offerings because they can access the text directly via the search results.

Persistent URNs ensure that the archived documents are permanently citable. Users may access full-text versions of these documents and use them freely for their scholarly work. By granting an appropriate licence for each document, you, as the author, decide whether users should, in addition, be permitted to distribute your documents to others or to modify your work in any way.

The advantages in detail

  • SSOAR offers unrestricted world-wide access to full texts - all with a standard browser.
  • Each document has an individual URN (Uniform Resource Name) thereby facilitating reliable referencing adhering to scientific standards.
  • Additional subject metadata ensures that documents can be sought and found easily.
  • Cross-linking / Integration with other resources such as portals (for example, and disciplinary databases enlarge the searchable content.
  • SSOAR is networked within the growing Open Access community and guarantees technological innovativeness.
